Our 2021-2024 Impact Report is now available!

In 2021, City Green received a 3-year grant from the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP) which allowed the organization to continue expanding the Good Food Bucks program across New Jersey. The following report summarizes the success of our program since receiving our first GusNIP grant in September 2021.

The GusNIP program is housed under USDA NIFA, and aims to grant funds to organizations across the United States whose mission is to increase the purchase of fruits and vegetables through nutrition incentives for people who use SNAP EBT. Good Food Bucks has spearheaded nutrition incentives in New Jersey since 2011, and New Jersey is one of  forty U.S. states and territories that receives this grant.

Over the last three years, this grant has allowed City Green to grow the Good Food Bucks program immensely. Looking back, there has been a steady increase in partner locations, customer awareness, and participation, as well as an increase in the benefits offered to partners and program users. Over $620,000 of Good Food Buck nutrition incentives were redeemed for fresh produce by more than 24,000 households with SNAP across 81 farm market, CSA, and grocery store locations in nearly every New Jersey county. Because of this USDA GusNIP award, City Green’s Good Food Bucks program has offered individuals the choice to add more fresh food to their basket, and has contributed to local food system resiliency here in NJ by supporting local farmers and business owners. This report summarizes the program's impact on the community since 2021 and how Good Food Bucks has tackled food insecurity in New Jersey.

We are happy to share that City Green has received a second GusNIP grant for 2024-2027. During the next three years our organization will continue to grow the program and increase awareness of the Good Food Bucks program in New Jersey so that more people have affordable access to fresh, healthy food. We thank all of our farmers market and grocery store partners, community members, and foundation and individual supporters for your continued support of City Green and the Good Food Bucks Program!

Our new farm and market partner application is open until April 15th - go to https://www.goodfoodbucks.com/markets and grocery stores go to https://www.goodfoodbucks.com/grocery.
